Faisal Vawda, the Federal Minister for Water Resources, said on a talk show that PML-N was “lying down to kiss the boot” while holding up an army boot he had brought to the show.
Vawda made the comments on the live talk show Off The record, hosted by Kashif Abbasi, where PML-N’s Javed Abbasi and PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira were also present.
The Federal Minister surprised everyone, both on the show and the people watching at home, by taking out any army boot and placing in on top of the table. He said, “I am going to bring this to every talk show. This is how democratic the PML-N is. They lay down to kiss the boot”.
He also mocked PML-N for its “unconditional support” for the services chief’s tenure bills, and made fun of the PML-N slogan “Vote Ko Izzat Do” by saying “Boot Ko Izzat Do” while criticizing the party for deviating from its stance.
Upon being asked why he was criticizing the party for supporting the PTI government on the Army Act bill, Vawda responded that “It was our stance. We were doing it for the Pakistani nation and we stood firm. You should have respected them from day one like we did. You talk against them, spew your hatred against them, you talk even when they lay down their lives as martyrs. Is there any shame? Any respect?”
All three of the bills were passed in the National Assembly and the Senate last week. PPP also supported the government in getting both houses of the parliament to approve the constitutional amendments.
Vawda mocked the PML-N leadership and said that the nation had seen their true face when the party decided to “lie down and kiss the boot” when it came to saving their own corruption. Regarding the boot, he said “it wasn’t possible that it has been shined by human hands. It cannot be shined by human hands. The limit to which they have stooped, it looks like the boot has been shined by their tongues”.
Qaman Zaman Kaira objected to the language used by Vawda and said that he had gone too far, while lamenting how he had dragged the armed forces into a controversy by alleging that PML-N had been pressurized by them into supporting the bill.
Both Kaira and Abbasi left the talk show in protest against Vawda’s language, while other government leaders and journalists criticized his behavior.
This antic is nothing new to the Pakistani people since Vawda is known for such instances. Back in 2018, he arrived at the scene of the attack on the Chinese Consulate with a gun in hand saying he will fight for the country.
In February of 2019, Vawda went to the site where PAF shot down an Indian jet and posed on the debris of the fallen plane.
At another time, he claimed on a private news channel that the government will create one million jobs.
And as always, he is being trolled by everyone on social media for his crazy antics, particularly the boot.
